Vaccination Re-Start Amnesty

Equine Flu hasn’t gone away in 2020. For those horses and ponies whose vaccinations have lapsed due to the Covid-19 lockdown measures – Equine Influenza vaccinations are re-starting now and your second vaccination will be free of charge with our Amnesty program. We thank you for your patience and understanding over these last few months.

We all understand that we all needed to prioritise public health for the last few months due to COVID-19, but it is as important as ever to get your horse vaccinated against the highly contagious disease Equine Flu so we can help protect our equine community and continue to have fun with our horses now that the country is easing itself out of lockdown.

Flu infection can be severe in unvaccinated horses and signs include:

  • Lethargy
  • Nasal discharge
  • Coughing
  • Loss of appetite
  • High temperature

Following infection, horses will be contagious and will also need a long rest period of up to 100 days whilst their respiratory tract recovers.

Our horses give us so much pleasure, and rely on us to keep them fit and healthy. We’ve all had a reminder of how our health is the most important thing, so please remember the same applies to our beloved horses and ponies.

If you qualify, please call our office to book your vaccinations soon. We’ve extended our Saver Days for the time being to accommodate everyone’s much-needed preventative care to Tuesdays AND Thursdays.  Appointments fill up fast, so don’t delay!
