Welcome To Ella Aitkin

We are delighted to welcome vet Ella Aitkin to Team Agnew!

Ella grew up in Cheshire, went to school in Holmes Chapel and graduated from vet school at the University of Liverpool, and she has joined us from a practice in Leicestershire partly in order to be back closer to ‘home’.

Ella has a keen interest in sports medicine but enjoys all aspects of life as an ambulatory equine vet.  She has enjoyed being a vet at competitions and events including Point-to-Points, Team Chasing and Endurance rides – and it is a goal of hers to become an FEI Permitted Treating Veterinarian.  She’s an experienced equestrian and has been a keen horse rider since childhood, currently riding her 16.2hh bay horse, Harry. Ella has also just returned from Africa volunteering for The Gambia Horse and Donkey Trust providing veterinary care to local working animals.

Ella loves travelling, visiting friends and family around the UK, and baking - which all of us on Team Agnew look forward to enjoying too!

We offer a variety of reproductive services for your mare including artificial insemination, ultrasound scanning and pregnancy diagnosis, twin pregnancy management, foal management and vaccinations to prevent abortion.

As an independent practice, our vets at Agnew Equine are able to review each case and, where necessary, recommend referral to the most appropriate hospital in the circumstances to help with the specialised care of your horse or pony.
