Proudly Independent
As you may have heard, there was a large spotlight this last week on the veterinary industry as a whole from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
As a proudly independent practice, our primary focus is always on providing the best possible care for your horses and ponies - and we offer this with integrity and as affordably as possible whilst remaining sustainable for our family-run business.
We want to share the following:
- We always strive to do the best for you and your horse, and have built a reputation that we are proud of with regards to being trustworthy and working in your best interest – clinically and financially.
- We are a part of an independent buying group which allows us to access medicines at a more affordable price for our clients than going it alone and allows us to compete with the buying power of corporate practices.
- As an independent practice, our vets at Agnew Equine are able to review each case and, where necessary, recommend referral to the most appropriate hospital in the circumstances to help with the specialised care of your horse or pony - not one that is limited to a corporate network. In addition, it is our intention that this referral happens quickly; optimising the treatment of your horse and spending your money wisely.
- We have an outline of our general pricing and call-out fees on our website, but feel free to be in touch with us any time for a quote in advance or discuss with the vet during the course of the appointment.
- We believe in preventative care and its importance for your animals - so we offer our Saver Days for vaccinations, dentals and general exams at a clear and discounted rate.
Please do bear in mind when hearing all of this discussed on the news, vet practices are full of hard-working professionals who dedicate their lives to the treatment and care of animals. There is a national shortage of vets and the pressures are universally high from a staffing standpoint as well as from high overheads and rising costs. Whilst there is room for review and we welcome it, please remember the vast majority of people are doing their best.
